About
Drawing from the success of the sellout event held during Melbourne Fashion Festival in February 2025, the Melbourne made team are joining forces with leading creative connection-makers in the Melbourne Fashion landscape, to present their next fashion event.
Melbourne Made, Makers Lane is an event dedicated to our local fashion designers; past and present, models, photographers and makers, celebrating their commitment to creating locally with integrity and care. In an industry dominated by fast fashion, the price driven and the disposable, Melbourne Made, Makers Lane offers a refreshing perspective by showcasing the inspiration behind the garment.
Highlighting the meticulous decision making, the evolution of ideas and craftsmanship, we would like to share all that goes into producing fashion collections in Australia.
Drawing from Melbourne’s rich history in the garment industry, designers are invited to view historical garments made in Howey Place over the decades of the 20th century and encouraged to take inspiration from pieces created in the very laneway where the runway will take place.
By offering a unique insight into Melbourne-made fashion past and present and the ideas behind every creation, we aim to challenge the perception of value, and raise awareness about the negative effects of fast fashion on our environment and communities.
Join us in addressing these challenges and celebrating the beauty of slow, sustainable fashion at Melbourne Made.
We are hosting an information night for designers interested in showcasing their work in this year’s Makers Lane event. Offering a number of different participation options, selected designers will have the opportunity to showcase their pieces not only on a runway on October 23rd, but in the week-long FASH LAB Pop-up Fashion Lab, in the heart of Melbourne. Come along and find out what this might look like for your business.
